PETRONAS Sprinta Racing rider Niki Tuuli ended his Aragon Grand Prix in good spirits having made solid progress throughout the weekend.
The Moto2 rookie concluded today’s race in 22nd place, feeling positive with the steps made towards improving his feeling onboard the Kalex machine.
Johan Stigefelt – Team Manager
“It’s been a good weekend for Niki; the plan after Misano was to be more consistent with his lap times and he’s done that here. He had a decent qualifying too; still we are looking for more, but he is coming closer and closer. Where he is now, it’s quite difficult to take the next step and it takes time, which is the frustrating part for Niki. We as a team see that it’s not so bad, but of course for him, he is a racer and just wants to be there straight away. During the race he was again consistent and wasn’t that far from the front. He had some issues with the rear tyre and that was hard for him, but I think he did well. I want to thank him for pushing and trying his hardest this weekend.”
#66 Niki Tuuli – P22
“I’m quite happy about the race today because I made consistent lap times, but still I want more. My start was okay and from there I just focused on building my race. As the race went on I started to struggle again with the rear grip; I was spinning so much that I kept loosing a lot of time in the fast corners. We know now that I need to change my riding style and my position on the bike more to help with this, so that is what I will continue to work on; I feel confident that I can improve more over the next few races. We have gone forward this weekend and this is positive. We are coming better. Thanks to the team.”
