Tuuli takes first point in Thailand

PETRONAS Sprinta Racing rider and Moto2 rookie Niki Tuuli took his first point in the intermediate class today, crossing the line in a superb 15th place.

Johan Stigefelt – Team Manager
“I’m really happy that Niki took a point today; it was a great race from him. Yesterday’s qualifying was disappointing for us all because we knew that he had a good pace here and he showed that today. He was pushing hard from the start and showed everyone that he’s a fighter and doesn’t give up. In the end he came through and took one point for the team and its brilliant. I’m so happy for Niki. He’s been working so hard with his team and they all really deserve this. It’s not an easy category to be a rookie in, so to do this is such a short time, really is a great achievement. Thanks to everyone.”

#66 Niki Tuuli – P15
“I started the weekend really well but then struggled to make the next step on Saturday. In the first two laps of the race I passed many riders; it was a good start. I just tried to focus on my own riding and finding a good rhythm. I ended up behind a faster rider and he really helped me to go quicker. We were catching the top ten riders when I made a big mistake after the back straight in the braking and I had to go straight on. After this I was riding alone and it was really hard to make up the time. Anyway I’m very pleased to get my first point in the Championship today; the feeling is really good! I can’t say how much I want to thank this team; they have supported me so much. Thank you to everyone.”
