PETRONAS Sprinta Racing rider Niki Tuuli concluded a tough weekend at Misano, just outside the top twenty, crossing the line in 21st place in today’s San Marino Grand Prix.
Johan Stigefelt – Team Manager
“Niki has had a really tough weekend here because he had a few too many crashes. It’s a track that is very hard for him, so it’s not been an ideal weekend. All things considered, he did well to finish the race in 21st place; he’s learned a lot and said he felt a lot better at the end of the race. The target for the next GP now is to make more laps during practice and be more consistent. He needs to work towards improving his feeling on the bike, like how he was at the last GP at Silverstone. The Moto2 class is very hard but Niki is continuing to learn and coming closer and closer.”
#66 Niki Tuuli – P21
“I’ll be honest I didn’t expect much from the race today because it’s been a really tough weekend from the beginning. I made quite a good start to the race but then because I wasn’t sure how fast I could ride, I just stayed calm and took the first few corners easy. Unfortunately this meant I lost some places but at the same time I really didn’t want to crash – especially after yesterday. As the race progressed my riding improved and I felt much better on the bike. This tells me that for the next GP, I need to just ride as many laps as I can. Now I have to go away and reset my head – I need to come back in a more positive focused mindset for Aragon. I’m happy to have finished the race without any problems today, so now we can move on to Aragon and work hard to improve the results there.”
