The Grand Prix of Argentina saw SIC Racing Team rider Zulfahmi Khairuddin cross the line in 26th place today after starting from 31st position on the grid.
Riding in the wet for the first time on board his Kalex machine this weekend, Fahmi experienced a tough time adapting to the changing conditions. With only one dry session under his belt before Qualifying, the Moto2 rookie qualified 31st for todays race. Following a positive morning Warm-Up the Malaysian made a solid start off the line, passing seven riders in the first two laps. Continuing to push Fahmi worked hard to hold onto his position before dropping back two places and crossing the line in 26th.

“Conditions for everyone have been quite difficult. We started here on Friday quite positive in the dry and Fahmi did quite well and made good progress from Qatar. Unfortunately since then we have had a lot of wet conditions. It was the first time for him in the wet on this bike, so its not been so easy. It was a lot more difficult than we had anticipated; we had to make a lot of changes on the bike that Fahmi wanted and in hindsight maybe this wasn’t the best way to go. It’s a difficult decision to make. In the race conditions were drying so we went with slicks; Fahmi made a very good start but then dropped back a little. It’s a shame yesterday was wet because I think this extra time would have helped him a lot today. Nevertheless he finished the race and has learned more again this weekend, so we hope to take that further at the next race in Austin.”
#63 ZULFAHMI KHAIRUDDIN – P26
“In the race today I felt quite happy because I made a good start and passed a few guys in the first two laps. I tried to stick with the top twenty guys but I just couldn’t keep the same pace as the others. I know I am improving day by day but our gap is still far from the top. Hopefully we can figure something out for the next race to be closer to the front.”
