Khairul Idham Pawi’s love of motorcycles began at the age of thirteen, when he persuaded his parents to buy him a training bike. He took his first racing steps in the PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship and later moved into the Asia Dream Cup, taking the title in both championships in 2014.
Pawi moved to Spain in 2015 to contest the FIM CEV Junior World Championship, making his Grand Prix debut that same season in the Moto3 class at the GP of Aragón. After finishing sixth overall with three podiums in the Junior World Championship, he moved up to the Moto3 World Championship as a full entrant in 2016, where he shocked everybody with two stunning wet-weather victories in Argentina and Germany.
The following year he made another jump up in class, this time to the Moto2 World Championship, where his best result so far has been eighth place at Misano in 2017. For his third season in the intermediate class, Pawi joins forces with PETRONAS Sprinta Racing as he looks to take the next step in his career with the Malaysian outfit.
