Experiencing the Red Bull Ring for the very first time, PETRONAS Sprinta Racing rider Niki Tuuli tackled the challenging Austrian circuit, to battle his way from 29th on the grid to 21st place at the chequered flag.
Johan Stigefelt – Team Manager
“Niki struggled more this race than in Brno; the track here is not so long but its very technical and hard to ride. It’s been a tough weekend for him but another learning curve and without any crashes, so this is good. He’s gained more experience too. During the race he did some good lap times. He had some moments where he didn’t do so well because he made a few mistakes but he’s learning. Getting more experience on the bike is important. Now we look forward to Silverstone, which will be another new track for him, but I think it will suit his style of riding more.”
#66 Niki Tuuli – P21
“Today we had a really difficult Warm Up and I really struggled with my riding. For the race we tried a completely new set-up. The first laps were good and I took many positions but after that I started to struggle a bit; I was braking too late and went wide a couple of times. I just tried to focus on my riding and finding my rhythm again. I was able to improve during the last fifteen laps and I made my fastest laps of the weekend, so for the next race I just need to start from where I ended here. I’m pleased with how I rode at the end of the race; I was pushing but now I need to continue this way.”
