“We had a really good test here earlier in the year, so I was really looking forward to FP1. The beginning of the session was not so great; I was able to improve my lap time towards the end but for me it was still not good enough. Most of the field put everything into the last three minutes and I ended up dropping back down the timesheets. In all honesty this was down to me; I didn’t push enough and I struggled to find my rhythm.
In the beginning of FP2 it was raining a little so the track conditions were not great. It started to dry as the session progressed and we were able to get back out on track and improve our lap time. On our last outing we put in the new tyres. The bike felt good and I was improving in every sector but then in sector three I made a mistake and went wide; I lost too much to make up for it in sector four. I’m a little disappointed because that would have been a really good lap, but I’m still confident that I can do well here. The bike feels good and there’s really nothing to change; it’s working well. Improving tomorrow will come down to me; I have to push harder and make the step for qualifying.”

“In the beginning of FP1 I focussed on making a good lap time alone; I had a pretty good feeling from the first outing. I felt confident about today because we tested here in the summer. Towards the end we used a new tyre but I didn’t make a great lap time because I was in a group and couldn’t find the best place to ride; we finished 15th but I knew we could go faster and do better.
In FP2 it was a little wet at the start of the practice but half way through the session we were able to go out on slicks with a new tyre. We improved the lap time from FP1, so I’m pretty happy. I feel good about tomorrow, we have another chance to improve the lap time. I think for sure with the soft tyre we can go even faster and do a really good job in qualifying. Today has been a positive first day.”
